This topic just popped into my head while on my bike ride today. I have had several e-mail from different authors, involved in the network marketing industry, recently show up all on similar topics. Obviously one read something somewhere and then the others seen his mail so they decided, “You know I need to write the same thing but change it to make myself look busy.”
You started your home based business with a reason, your “Y“. It may have been you were tired of working for someone else and didn’t like how they treated others, found yourself out of work in today’s economy, or just came across an idea and wanted to start a home based business based on it. But there was that “Y“ burning in you and you must never forget it.
In one e-mail the author stated even though when he was struggling to get started “hated to go to Walmart out of necessity to get food but always hated it”. How he hated being around “those people” when he was there. He considered them failures. He went on to speak about how now he is spending several $100 a night for hotels and never going into Walmart again. Well success is great, but it can be measured in many ways and is different to each of us. If you consider yourself successful when you have “X” amount of dollars, then you will also consider yourself a failure when you drop below “X” number of dollars. Is this real success or even failure?
When my grandfather passed away at the age of 93 I learned a valuable lesson from his life. He worked hard everyday of his life and always did what he wanted. His home was paid for, enjoyed his hobbies and never wanted for anything. He always drove the same car or truck for years until it was worn out. He saved his money in good times and bad. When he died, I learned that he had over $3,000,000 in the bank. You would have never know it. I was amazed that he never lost sight of his “Y” and didn’t need to waste it either.
This happened about 4 weeks ago and the bank. There was this older gentleman in line next to me of Latin American decent. He was transferring some money and I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation. He was moving $1.2 Million from one account to another. The teller stated that it leaves you with @ $1.6 million in this other account. He was walking out of the bank ahead of me toward his 4-5 year old White Ford Focus. I had to ask what he did for a living. He stated in a very humble way that he was into the Online Internet Marketing. He said his business was doing very well but “I never forgot where I came from.” He still has his focus on his “Y“. Also he did his banking in person because he didn’t know how to ” do all that stuff on the Internet.” Kind of ironic.
In a previous article I wrote I stated that if your driving force was money, it will also be your down fall. You need a balance of goals in your life as in each one being a spokes on a wheel so they stay even and your wheel rolls smoothly. Otherwise if it’s out of round, it will eventfully tear itself apart and fail. This is when you are a true failure unless you know how to fix that wheel.
No matter how successful your home based business gets, never loose sight of that “Y“. Sure it’s a great idea to upgrade your living style and other items along the way, but always keep adding to the reserve, because as quick as you made your fortune it can be gone even faster.
A lot of the online network marketing today is focused on a taboo subject of being unhappy with whom you are. For me to write against them is, in some people’s eyes, not a good idea. We each have our value and opinions just and we each empathize for those who are doing without and desire a better way of life. It may only take a helping hand for that one person to be able to pick themselves up and be very successful. The sizzle of failure is what so many are selling and the hook is “I know how to make you all better” for just a few hundred dollars. But “Today and Today Only, it’s a little bit less.” You started your business with the basics and your ”Y“. Go back to your basics and restart yourself. I’m not going to smack you on the forehead and tell you your healed. But I will offer you what advice I can to help you along the way.
Just take a moment and look inside yourself. You’re still there so get back to who you are.
Stay focused on the “Y”
